Singer-songwriter
Why it works: the place, the recording setup and one verifiable milestone do all the work. No adjectives about her voice are needed.
Lena Hart writes quiet folk songs about small towns and late trains. From Leeds, recording at home.
Lena Hart is a singer-songwriter from Leeds who writes about leaving small towns and the people who stay in them. She records at home on a cheap condenser mic and a borrowed upright piano, and keeps the mistakes in. Her debut EP 'Platform 4' came out in spring 2026 and was played on regional public radio. A full-length album follows next year.
Rapper
Why it works: the details are oddly specific (a bus route, a cousin), which makes the voice feel real. One number is enough.
Kofi Mensah raps about his first job, his mum's advice and the 47 bus. South London.
Kofi Mensah is a rapper from Peckham whose verses read like a diary of being twenty: first jobs, rent, and his mum's advice he never asked for. He writes on the 47 bus and records with his cousin, who produces every track. His mixtape 'Night Shift' passed 100,000 streams without a label, and he is now working on his first EP.
Indie band
Why it works: a short origin story with a joke, a clear description of the sound, and two achievements a booker can check.
Paper Harbour are a four-piece indie band from Gdynia who met in a school jazz ensemble and quit jazz a week later. Their songs are built on two interlocking guitars and drums recorded in one room with the doors open. They have played Harbour Sounds Festival and supported The Gulls on their 2025 tour. Their second EP, 'Low Tide', is out in November.
Electronic producer
Why it works: 'for fans of' gives curators an instant reference point, and the gear detail tells producers and fans what to expect.
Ola Sowa is a producer from Kraków who makes slow, melodic electronic music at night in a rented flat. Her tracks start as voice memos recorded on the tram home and are finished on a Juno-60 she borrowed and never returned. Her debut single 'Night Bus' was added to several independent late-night playlists. For fans of Nils Frahm and early James Blake.
DJ
Why it works: BPM, residency and a radio show are exactly what a promoter scans for.
Berlin-based DJ playing 130 BPM techno with a soft spot for 90s trance. Resident at Club Kowalski.
Tomás Reyes is a Berlin-based DJ who plays hard, hypnotic techno around 130 BPM and sneaks 90s trance into the last hour. He has held a monthly residency at Club Kowalski since 2024 and runs the Low Light radio show on a community station. His sets are long, dark and built for people who stay until the lights come on.
Long bio for an EPK
Why it works: each paragraph has one job (who, background, achievements, what's next), so a journalist can lift any of them on its own.
Mira Kovač is a folk singer from Zagreb who writes about her grandmother's village in the hills above Samobor. She grew up singing klapa harmonies with her family and started writing her own songs at nineteen, after moving to the city for university. Her songs mix old Croatian folk melodies with fingerpicked guitar and are recorded live in one take, usually in her parents' kitchen. Her debut album 'Kamen' (2025) was released on the independent label Stone Path Records and named one of the year's best local records by a national music site. She has played two summer festivals and toured Slovenia and Austria with a three-piece band. In 2026 she is releasing a series of duets with singers from other Balkan folk traditions. The first, with Serbian singer Ana Ilić, is out in October.

Frequently asked questions
Can I copy one of these artist bio examples?
Use them for structure, not wording. The artists are fictional, and a bio only works when the details are true and specific to you.
What makes a good artist bio example?
Concrete details: a place, a recording setup, a person you work with and one or two real milestones. Good bios rarely use adjectives about the music itself.
