How to write an EPK bio
An EPK bio is written for people who work in music: bookers, journalists, label scouts, festival programmers. They read dozens a week and are looking for specific information. Give it to them in the first paragraph.

What bookers and journalists look for
- •Genre and a 'for fans of' reference, so they know where you fit
- •Where you're based, for routing shows and local press
- •Live history: venues, festivals, support slots, with names
- •Recent releases and any press or radio
- •What's coming up, with dates
Structure it in four short paragraphs
Who you are, background, achievements, what's next. Each paragraph should make sense on its own, because journalists often quote just one of them.
Write in third person
Press bios are written in third person so they can be pasted straight into an article or a festival programme. Keep first-person quotes for a separate 'quote' line if you want one.
Include a short version too
Add a 50-word version above or below the long bio. Festivals and venues often need a blurb for their website and will use whatever is shortest.
Example
Paper Harbour are a four-piece indie band from Gdynia, Poland, playing guitar-led songs for fans of Wet Leg and The Smile. They met in a school jazz ensemble, left it within a week and have been playing together since 2021. Their songs are built on two interlocking guitars and recorded live in one room. Their debut EP 'Salt' (2024) was played on national public radio, and they have performed at Harbour Sounds and Northern Lights festivals. In 2025 they supported The Gulls on a twelve-date tour. Their second EP, 'Low Tide', is out on 14 November 2026, followed by a headline tour of Poland and Germany.
