Suno vs Udio vs Eleven Music: which one can you release?
If you only want to play with AI music, all three are fun. If you want to put the song on Spotify, the differences are in the terms: whether you can download it, whether you get commercial and streaming rights, and on which plan. This comparison is about releasing, checked on 4 October 2026.

How we picked: We ranked the three by how clearly their current terms let you release a song on streaming services: downloads, commercial use, streaming distribution and licensing. We didn't score sound quality, which is a matter of taste and changes with every model update. Textlino doesn't make music and has no deal with these companies. Facts checked 4 October 2026.

Suno
Best for: Full songs with vocals you want to release
On Pro or Premier, Suno's terms assign its rights in your output to you, and you can use a song commercially once you've taken a permitted download within your plan's monthly allowance. Free-plan songs are for personal, non-commercial use.
- •Commercial use needs a paid plan and a permitted download
- •Download limits depend on the plan
- •Settled with Warner Music; terms changed on 3 September 2026
-
Best for: Licensed tracks with clear commercial terms
ElevenLabs says Eleven Music is trained on licensed music. Its terms allow streaming distribution from the Creator plan up; Free and Starter can't distribute to streaming services. Film, TV, radio and games need an enterprise licence.
- •Streaming distribution from the Creator plan
- •Free plan requires attribution
- •No film, TV or radio use on self-serve plans

Udio
Best for: Making music to enjoy on the platform
After settling with Universal Music in October 2025, Udio disabled downloads. Its licensed platform is designed as a walled garden where songs stay on Udio, so you can't currently take a track to a distributor.
- •No downloads since the Universal settlement
- •Licensing deals with Universal and Warner
- •Check Udio's current terms if this changes
Copyright is a separate question
Whatever the terms give you, copyright in the result depends on the law. The US Copyright Office concluded in January 2025 that prompts alone don't make you the author of AI output, while your own lyrics, edits and arrangement can be protected. Keep your lyrics and project files.
Which one to choose
- •You want to release songs with vocals now: Suno on a paid plan
- •You want the clearest licence story, for example for clients: Eleven Music on Creator or above
- •You want to make music for fun and share it on the platform: Udio

Frequently asked questions
Can I release Udio songs on Spotify?
Not at the moment. Udio disabled downloads after its October 2025 settlement with Universal Music, so there's no file to send to a distributor.
Do I own songs I make with Suno?
On Pro or Premier, Suno's terms (effective 3 September 2026) assign Suno's rights in the output to you, and commercial use requires a permitted download. On the free plan the songs are for personal, non-commercial use. Copyright law is a separate question.
Can I put Eleven Music tracks on Spotify?
From the Creator plan up, yes, according to the Eleven Music terms. Free and Starter plans don't allow streaming distribution.
