  3. Upload Suno songs to Spotify

Can you upload Suno songs to Spotify?

Often yes, but three things decide it: whether you have commercial rights to the song, whether your distributor accepts AI music, and whether the release follows Spotify's rules on impersonation and spam. Here's each one, as of October 2026.

Updated 4 October 2026

1. Do you have commercial rights?

Suno gives commercial use rights only for songs made while you're on a paid plan (Pro or Premier). Songs made on the free plan are for non-commercial use, and subscribing later doesn't convert them.

Commercial rights aren't the same as copyright. Since 3 September 2026 Suno's terms assign its rights in paid-plan output to you, but that can't create copyright the law doesn't grant: the US Copyright Office has said purely AI-generated material isn't protected without enough human authorship. Your own lyrics and edits are what you can most clearly claim.

Commercial use also needs a permitted download, and paid plans come with a monthly download allowance, so plan which tracks you actually want to release. Plans and limits change, so check Suno's pricing page before you rely on them.

2. Does your distributor accept AI music?

You can't upload to Spotify directly; it goes through a distributor, and their AI policies differ a lot. DistroKid accepts music made with AI tools when you hold the rights and disclose it. CD Baby and TuneCore have restricted or declined fully AI-generated releases.

Read your distributor's current AI policy before uploading. Undisclosed AI music that gets detected later can be taken down, and royalties can be withheld.

3. Does it follow Spotify's rules?

  • •No voice impersonation: AI vocals that copy a real artist are only allowed with that artist's permission.
  • •No spam: mass uploads, duplicates and very short filler tracks are filtered out.
  • •Disclosure is welcome: Spotify supports AI credits through the industry DDEX standard and says it doesn't penalise artists for disclosing AI use.

A short checklist

  • •Made on a paid Suno plan, and you've downloaded the files you need
  • •Your distributor's AI policy allows it, and you've ticked their AI disclosure
  • •No real artist's voice or name used without permission
  • •Your own artwork, title and credits
  • •One release at a time, not dozens of near-identical tracks

Frequently asked questions

Can I release songs made on Suno's free plan?

No. Songs made on the free plan are for non-commercial use, and upgrading to a paid plan later doesn't make them commercially usable.

Does Spotify remove AI-generated music?

Not for being AI-made. Spotify removes impersonation without consent and spam such as mass uploads and duplicates, and says it doesn't down-rank music for disclosing AI use.

Which distributors accept AI music?

Policies change often. As of October 2026 DistroKid accepts AI-assisted music with disclosure and full rights, while CD Baby and TuneCore restrict fully AI-generated releases. Always check the distributor's current policy.
