AI music release checklist
Releasing an AI-made song is the same job as any release, with a few extra checks at the start. Work down this list in order; most problems with AI releases come from skipping the first section.

1. Rights (before anything else)
- •The track was made on a plan that allows commercial use (Suno Pro or Premier, Eleven Music Creator or above for streaming)
- •You've taken the download your tool requires; on Suno, commercial use needs a permitted download
- •No real artist's voice, name or recognisable melody without permission
- •You've kept your lyrics, prompts and project files
2. Distributor
- •Your distributor accepts AI music made with your tool (CD Baby doesn't; TuneCore only from licensed models)
- •You've ticked the AI disclosure and said which parts are AI: lyrics, music, all or part of the audio
- •One release at a time, not a batch of near-identical tracks
3. Artwork and metadata
- •Cover art is 3000 × 3000 px and you have the rights to it, including any AI image tool's licence
- •No other artist's name in the title, artist field or tags
- •Credits list the humans involved and what they did
- •Release date three to four weeks out, so you can pitch
4. Pitch and promo
- •Spotify editorial pitch sent from Spotify for Artists at least seven days before release
- •A short bio that says plainly how you work with AI
- •Release-day posts and a few clips for short-form video, with the platform's AI label switched on
- •A YouTube upload with its own description and the altered or synthetic content setting ticked
5. After release
- •Watch for distributor or platform emails about the release
- •Answer comments asking how it was made; honesty here builds trust
- •Space out the next release instead of uploading in bulk

Frequently asked questions
What's different about releasing AI music?
Mostly the start: checking your tool's commercial terms and downloads, your distributor's AI policy and disclosure. Pitching, artwork and promotion work the same as for any release.
How early should I upload an AI song to my distributor?
Three to four weeks before release day, the same as any song, so it reaches Spotify for Artists in time for an editorial pitch at least seven days ahead.
