Music Artist Bio Generator

Musician, band, DJ or producer: writing about yourself is the worst part of the job. Give Textlino a few facts and get a Spotify bio, a press-kit bio and a full artist biography that sound like you, not like a template.

See the difference

Same artist, same track. One writes alone, one uses Textlino.

✗ Without Textlino

"Hi, I make music. I'm from [city]. Follow me."

"[Artist] is a singer and producer from Gdańsk who writes about leaving small towns and coming back to them. Her first EP was recorded in her parents' garage on a four-track she found at a flea market. Since then she has opened for [support act] and played [festival] in 2025."

Example artist bios

Sample outputs for three different artists, generated from a handful of facts. Names are fictional; the structure is what matters.

Indie band, short Spotify bio

Velvet Harbour are a four-piece from Bristol writing guitar pop about the hours between leaving a party and getting home. Their 2025 EP 'Streetlight Static' was played on regional radio and picked up by independent playlists. New single 'Half the Way Back' is out now.

Solo singer-songwriter, press-kit bio

Mara Kowal writes songs the way other people keep diaries. The Kraków-born singer-songwriter recorded her debut album 'Small Hours' alone in a borrowed flat, then watched its lead single climb the Radio Harbour alternative chart. Blending fingerpicked guitar with field recordings and close-mic vocals, she has since opened for The Gulls and played Harbour Sounds Festival. Her second album arrives in spring 2027.

DJ / producer, long-form opener

Before he was a producer, Tomasz 'KLIN' Nowicki was a club sound tech who spent six years listening to what made dancefloors move. That education shows: his tracks sit between UK garage swing and Berlin techno restraint, built around chopped vocal samples and sub-bass that stays out of the way. Since his 2024 debut on the Lowlight label's night series, KLIN has played Harbour Sounds, Northern Static and a sold-out livestream from a Warsaw tram depot, and his remix of 'Glass Veins' has become a late-night staple for DJs across the Polish club scene.

How to write an artist bio that gets read

Whether you type it yourself or let the generator draft it, every strong musician bio follows the same structure. Use this as a checklist before you hit publish.

  1. 1

Open with who you are and what you sound like

Name, genre and one concrete sonic detail in the first sentence. "Lo-fi producer from Leeds blending tape hiss with gospel samples" beats "versatile artist with a unique sound" every time.

  2. 2

    Lead with proof, not adjectives

Releases, streams, playlist placements, radio plays, support slots, press quotes. One real number does more than five superlatives.

  3. 3

Tell the one story that explains your music

Where it comes from, what changed, what you are chasing now. Keep it to two or three sentences; curators and journalists skim.

  4. 4

End with what is next and how to reach you

Upcoming release, tour or project, then booking and press contacts. Write it in third person for press kits and Spotify, first person for Instagram.

  5. 5

    Keep three lengths ready

A 1–2 sentence Spotify or Apple Music bio, a 100-word press-kit bio and a 250–400 word long-form biography. The generator produces all three from the same input.

What is an artist bio and where do you need it?

An artist bio introduces you to listeners and to people in the industry. The same facts appear in different lengths on Spotify, in your EPK, in festival applications, press releases and on social profiles. Bookers, journalists and curators often read it before they listen, so it should say quickly who you are, what you sound like and what's happening now.

  • • Spotify 'About' section: up to 1,500 characters
  • • Electronic press kit (EPK): the long version for press and promoters
  • • Festival and venue applications: often a short blurb
  • • Press releases: a paragraph journalists can quote
  • • Social profiles: one line that fits Instagram, TikTok and X

Why writing about yourself is hard

We built Textlino because we kept running into the same problems.

🪞

You're too close to your own story

You know every detail of your journey, which makes it hard to pick the three that matter to a stranger.

📱

Every platform needs a different length

One line for Instagram, a paragraph for Spotify, a page for your EPK. Keeping all of them current is a chore.

😬

Praising yourself feels wrong

'Groundbreaking artist' sounds empty, but being too modest makes you forgettable. Concrete facts solve both problems.

📅

Bios go out of date

A bio that still calls a two-year-old EP 'upcoming' makes an active artist look inactive.

lengths worth keeping: one line, one paragraph, full EPK bio

Step by step

From a few facts about your track to a draft you can edit.

1

Tell us about your sound

A few sentences about your genre, influences, story or recent releases. Even 'dark pop from Berlin, influenced by The Weeknd' is enough to start.

2

Pick tone and length

Professional for press and Spotify, emotional for storytelling, hype for social. Short for profiles, long for an EPK.

3

Get a draft in your genre's language

Built from your own facts, structured the way press bios usually are.

4

Use it everywhere

Spotify for Artists, your EPK, applications, social profiles. Update the last line with every release.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about this tool.

How long should a Spotify bio be?
Spotify allows up to 1,500 characters. One or two short paragraphs are easier to read on a phone. Use the short setting for that.
Can I use it for festival and label submissions?
Yes. The professional tone with the long setting gives you an EPK-style bio. Check every fact before sending it.
How often should I update my bio?
With every release, notable show or change in your project. At minimum, make sure the newest release is mentioned.
Will it sound like every other AI bio?
It's built from your input and avoids the usual clichés, so the more specific your facts, the more it sounds like you. Edit anything that doesn't.
Will it make things up?
It's told to use only the facts you give it. Still, read the result and remove anything that isn't true before you publish it.
Does it work for bands, DJs and producers?
Yes. Describe the project and its story; the bio adapts to solo artists, bands, DJs, producers and collectives.
